While we're so busy "protecting" the children out there, most already know more "questionable" words than I've ever heard of. To "censor" the use of "ass" is IMO utterly ridiculous and beyond OTT

Sprocky, the mods cannot take responsibility for the internet but we do take responsibility for this forum. It has no age restriction and we want to keep it "safe" so that parents can feel at ease when their children are surfing here. I believe that it is very important for kids to be on forum, they are our next generation of nature conservationists.

Arks, hopefully they did not learn those words here.
I personally know of kids who's parents would frown at them repeating certain words. You might find it being OTT but there are many others who would take offence.

arks is a "senior member of society" and she supports your view...maybe you would be well served to stand back, take a deep breath, and realize it is not very wise to condemn and alienate indiscriminately...think, then type, then rethink...and only then, SUBMIT. Yo' mamma

I fully agree with you JenB, but I am sure all the kids know their "ass" or should I say butt, from their elbow.

My initial request was for a list of words that are not appropriate on the forum, not that difficult is it? And when one does use a derogatory word, instead of editing the post maybe a pm to the originator requesting a clean-up is in order.

Jen, I'm sorry, but IMO anyone — parent or otherwise — who would take offense at the use of such an innocuous word as "ass" is living in the Dark Ages. If this forum is going to be that censorious, I have no place here, because I think it is irrational, immature and totally out of touch with 2010 realities.

Thats nothing Arks, I had a word removed that was no profanity at all. "Gemors" means rubbish in Afrikaans And is a word that is not profane at all. Maybe some of the peeps on this forum just uses it as a safe chat room with no real vested interest in conservation like all you profane Sanparks visitors.
