here is two tatally different ones,

I'd crop out the empty sky on the left.
Unfortunately the light has let you down on this one, with the stump's shadow falling on the bird and being very prominent. Part of its neck, face and body is also in shadow.

Just fixed the second one, btw, this was on foot.

Colour's good, lights a bit harsh but I guess you don't always have much choice. If possible, I would have tried to wait for it to come out from behind the bush. I'd also maybe crop out the bush on the left?

Now thats pushing it.

With the vulture shot, I would've cropped the tree stump out... Just my way of looking at thing, as I like to give the animal something to look at. At the moment, you bird is smack bam in the middle and attention is drawn to the tree...

JL i understand what you are saying and truth be told i took the photo because i liked how the trees almost framed the Restaurant area at Pretoriaskop It is a photo i took last year December and have come a long way in composition since then

Two very stupid questions but how do you go about changing depth of field and what does it actually do?

No such thing as a stupid decision.

Unfortunately I don't have time right now to give a full description, but in the meantime, read this.

Basically, depth of field is how deep the plane of focus is, i.e. the range of objects that appear in focus in your image. It is controlled by aperture. The wider the aperture (smaller F-stop), the shallower the depth of field. Also see here.

I'd agree with this after another look.
Also, the tree is 'amputated'.
I would crop it so it becomes a portrait orientation.

Well I was trying to capture our reflections in the bubbles.

70-200 mm 2.8 IS..just the natural lighting..it was in a forest so pretty dark , tried flash but obviously it was seen in the bubble. :doh:
