@007 looks like it was a good year?
Satara Looks very dry now compared with a year ago. Orpen does not look too bad. Strange as the two cameras are georaphically not that far apart

Pat, I don't think 007, Bond.... James Bond..... will answer you're question, have'nt seen him on the forums yet :lol:

But seriously, the year 2007 did look much better than the current conditions! I really do hope the park get soon much needed rain.....

It is quite scary to see such a big difference between the satara pics, i hope decent rains start soon.

Wasn't that because they had good, early rains last year and then a dry spell mid-summer ? And this year the rain hasn't started yet ?

2007 was a good rainy season up till end of December in that area. Then it stopped raining, and it hasn't really rained since then ...

Thanks for those pictures...

Wasn't it in 2006 when someone started a "pray for rain thread"?

I was in Kruger in 2005 and 2006 towards the end of October. I remember on both occasions being shocked at the dry conditions.

Our rainy seems to have set in here. I hope the same happens at Kruger.

Great stuff DB!

Did you guys know wildlife managers use fixed point photography to monitor vegetation change over long periods? This enables them to determine whether bush encroachment is becoming a problem or veld condition is deteriorating.

It would be interesting to keep this topic alive so that we can also see how the vegetation changes.

I only know the Satarawaterhole surrounded by trees. Thanks for showing the difference from 1999 to 2008. It is amazing!

At least the cams have had some decent rains now, the Orpen cam still has a puddle there

And Satara looks like its eventually starting to green :dance:

WOW, today I went to check the webcams for the first time in quite a while, and was I amazed at the change in the plants around the waterholes!! Everything turned green overnight!!

It's amazing what a bit of rain can accomplish! :dance:

And I'm so glad for the animals!! I hope all the parks will have a good wet season! Heaven knows they need it! :pray:
