We got moving again and another hartebeest willingly obliged to a photo:

Then I ticked off the pied starling…



Talking about starlings and my agony with shooting the birds: There must be thousands and thousands of red-winged starlings in Addo. I left the park with zero picture of them. Only at the Waterfront in Cape Town I managed to take a photo of one…

Another drama unfolded in front of our eyes:

Darn!

Help me, please!

No way! You have made your bed, now you must lie.

- Oh well, okay then…

We were headed down south with all sorts of intentions. One was having breakfast at Jack’s again. At Jack’s we heard the resident sombre greenbul again and I went to hunt it down with my camera. Back then I had thought that I didn’t have a photo of one yet and was chuffed with myself when I managed to outwit the elusive bird… Until I got home and found a better shot in my collection…

After breakfast we got on the road again when all of a sudden, Mel shouted ‘Secretary!’ And indeed, far up on the hill there was one stalking breakfast.

The secretary was quickly followed by… another sighting of Josie!



But she couldn’t cope with the attention today and quickly moved off into the bushes. This would be the last time that we saw lion. Certainly not complaining though – lions every full day we spent in the park is something we never experienced before.

We got moving again but not for very long as the antics of these buffs held us up and kept us entertained for quite some time.

Ahhh, that’s so good!

Go away! This is my mud puddle!

I’m singing in the mud… Just singing in the mud.


What a glorious feeling, I’m happy again.


I’m laughing at the clouds, so dark, up above.


And entertained is the correct expression for some of us. While Ronnie, Mel and I were watching with appropriate reverence , hell broke loose in the car behind us where Spots and melphs dad were sitting. They were laughing their heads off! I’m still surprised that the buffs didn’t pack up and leave with the pandemonium the two guys were causing. The mayhem apparently had to do with the way one of the buffs took a leak…

So, we're still on the same day...

Later on we found some vervets in the trees with a cute little one suckling.
