I've finally gotten around to renewing my Wildcard about a month ago. Have not yet received it, but not too worried, since this seems to be the norm -- as long as the piece of paper is accepted at the parks, I'm

However, when can I expect my Wild magazine to start showing up? :hmz:

Dabchick, I have never had a problem with my magazine. I tend to collect my post twice a month and I tend to find it sometime after the 20th. It arrives the same week as my Getaway.

If you have purchased a new card and haven't received Wild magazine yet, please send an email to subs@tipafrica.co.za. Please include your name, new card number, postal address and when you bought the card.

Don't hesitate to email us - we know there may be long stretches between park visits and the magazine is great for armchair travel.

Thanks to Wildmag for this e-mail link. Hopefully I will be getting my wild magazine regularly now and not just the occasional one when visiting a park.
Maybe Wildmag would answer the following question for me.
How is the magazine funded? IE - Is a portion of the wild card fees taken as a subscription for the magazine?

Still no answer from Wildmag. I have sent an e-mail and will inform the forumites when I receive my wild magazine.

Is the Wild magazine only for South African Wildcard holders not International card holders?
I have had a Wildcard for 18 months (well one card and one piece of paper!) and never seen a magazine.

I can't believe the laid back attitude some people have to this debacle! Regardless of whether I am entitled to a mag or not I don't hold any hope whatsoever of receiving a card in the near future. This is a very bad image for the park.

I also haven't received the magazine during the past year. :( Like all of you, I also had a huge struggle to get my new Wild card, and received it more than a year later, after we returned from our September trip and will not even bother to contact them regarding the magazine, until luislang confirmed it was worthwhile.

After having sent a second e-mail to subs@tipafrica.co.za for somebody to contact me I received an answer from Elvira Frazenburg elvira@tipafrica.co.za
I am attaching part of it here.

Thank you for your mail. I forwarded the mail you sent on Saturday to SANParks, but as yet I am still waiting for an answer from them.

The Wild Card has changed to new card capabilities and loyalty benefits. The online Wild magazine purchases have also been de-activated as of Octob
er last year.

Should you purchase a new Wild card as of 20 October 2010, Wild magazine will then be posted to you at no additional cost. The changes came about once SANParks took over the management of Wild Card and due to the price increase in October last year they could then accommodate the costs incurred for Wild magazine to be posted to individuals who purchased Wild Cards as of 20 October 2010. The old price paid unfortunately did not cover the costs for the Wild magazine mailing.

SANParks usually provides us, Tip Publishing, with the Wild magazine mailing list, however your details were not included, therefore I cannot trace it.

Kindly confirm if purchased after 20 October 2010 (when and where) in order for us to follow-up accordingly. Kindly also confirm if you have updated your postal details online after purchasing the card after the 20 October 2010. If all details have been confirmed, please forward me your confirmation letter that SANParks sent you via e-mail in order for me to mail you the magazine without further delay.

For general Wild Card enquiries please call 0861 GO WILD (46 9453) or e-mail wildcard@sanparks.org.

Kind regards,

Elvira Frazenburg

I also contacted her by phone and received friendly service so I will nominate her for the wildstar award.
hilda - it seems worthwhile to get in contact with her personally
threedogs - as I understand the above explanation you are paying for it so you are entitled to receive the magazine as well.

Elvira is more than happy for people to contact her via email or the general number given in the email.

I've just removed her individual number, at her request, as she happens to work on the switchboard and doesn't want to block that number.
