Hi all :)

"BushFairy..." Well, my family and friends call me "tinks" - short for tinkerbell (the fairy from Peter Pan in case there are any of you who are confused) which has been my nick-name since forever (golden blonde locks and constantly exploring in the garden and around the farm when I was little is where it came from, I presume). So, obviously I have a love for nature which is where the bush came from! My "real" name is Caroline which is rather hard to shorten so tinks has kind of stuck!

So interesting to read everyone elses

Fascinating to see how Forumites get their Aliases.

With mine I simply shifted the letters of my actual name around.

haha no worries vgstephens , original names are good too!!

Otherwise some are very interesting :D

Mine is due to working in the Sabi Sands for a few years and at the lodge I was called orndog or OD. Orn from the word ornithologist because if someone needed to know what call or bird ID, they could ask me.
I must say that the local Shangaan names attributed to us working there were very entertaining and the odd one can surely not be mentioned on this forum  :D

When I was born, my hair was red (rooi, in Afrikaans) and I was called Rooies, named after the character in a series of youth books called "Trompie en die Boksom bende" (Trompie and the Boksom gang. No translation for Trompie and Boksom)

RANRED, nicely creative. However, some interesting images can be attached to the individual words "ran" and "red" put together, and I'm sure already have.

DUPACC, that arrangement of letters now makes sense - a win that they joined together so pleasantly. I suppose it could have also been pc-caud or cd-ucap too?

VGSTEPHENS, lots and lots of people use their real names. Yours has a nice ring to it too, so no strange connotations. I must admit, though, when I first saw it, I thought of a plate of veges, which has helped me to keep to my life eating-plan better. Whenever I stray, the plate of veges is there to remind me.

O-DOG, nice take there. An ornithologist, eh? I've been struggling to distinguish some of the "swizzle: birds as they all sound so similar - to my untrained ear, that is! What is the "dog" part?

ROOIES, one can't help thinking "red" when one sees that name! I immediately imagined you as a red-haired nature-lover.

Hey OWN!

Forgot to add that in...it was because we had a pack of wild dogs denning with 14 pups and I used to be obsessed with visiting them in the morning and evening and then following the adults on the hunt. Apart from them being so interesting at den time they so often ended up chasing leopards or attacking hyenas or playing with rhino while on the hunt. Basically I was always following them (as I imagine many forumites would have) and thats the reason for dog in orn dog
..and as far as the birds go, if you keen (as you are) and then get the opportunities they become easy after a while! But bird calls are a favourite of mine because they reveal how much more there is out there that we miss with our eyes and they also help to find snakes or predators in the area when you can distinguish between alarm calls etc!
