Hi and welcome all,

As Bert said, we have finally have our own online SANParks Camera Club. To join the FlickR group, create your own FlickR account, search and add me, "Hennie - Switchback", as a contact to your FlickR account and I will invite you to the FlickR SANParks Camera Club.

As you can see, the FlickR group is by invitation only.

This thread is not to hi-jack the already existing Wildlife thread, but to be a more open thread to all accounts and aspects of photography.

From my side I just want to thank Bert and the rest of the moderators that have helped to created our own online camera club! In the end we strive to have get together's every now and then. As we are close to year end and December holidays, I will try and arrange a get together early next year.

It's up to you if you want to repost here, what do you think? What may happen later on is that this thread will be used more day-to-day and the FlickR part of it more photo intensive?

Not sure. I think I'll probably end up posting here, just so that we know what everybody wants/expects

I quite like the idea of a camera club, but not so sure about having to use Flickr. I do not have a Flickr account and would be reluctanct to have to create one. I do have my own website, so can link to images from that???

Or am I being a pan in the a** to say that?

You're definitely not a pain, the FlickR part of the club is completely optional, although a FlickR account is free. You can upload here from your own website, no problem, as long as it stays SANParks & Camera related.

So can I post the first pic, and then take the comments. I am posting a pic as it was taken. No computer thingies and you can tell me, is that the idea.

And the goal is to learn from each other, using a camera, maybe going out on a
camera day outing. Meeting each other
A bit like the Stiffnecks, except the medium is a camera and not a bird.

And if this gets big we can have photo of the month etc.

I'd suggest to start a new thread for us: Photos for Criticism, and then repost your pics there - will give comments under that post.

PS: Please guys, I'm gonna ask that you keep the discussions at "Photos for Criticism" to a minimum and stick to positive criticism. If something is wrong or could be done better in a photo, let it be known, but don't dig into anyone's character please.

Will do that, I think this is a great Idea especially for us guys wanting to learn.

Another suggestion - as Scipio has started the ball rolling, would it be possible for photogs to post the exif for images sent in to comment on?

It makes it easier then perhaps to sugest where an improvement may be made?
