AFRICAN SPOONBILL

Images of the African Spoonbill

This bird's bill is shaped in the form of a spoon, hence its name.

When feeding it moves its head sideways to and fro
through shallow water trapping any aquatic life

















This is my pic of the Spoonbill
If you look at the reflection in the water of the middle bird
you can clearly see the shape of the bill

BLACKSMITH LAPWING

Here are images from the webcam of the Blacksmith Lapwing

This is a black and white bird normally found in pairs frequenting
inland waters and marshy ground







This pair has recently raised a chick.
To small to clearly identify it on the webcam

CAPE WAGTAIL

Ronnie, thanks so much. I had problems with the bird ID of the Pied Starling and the Cape Wagtail , now I learnt.

REDWINGED STARLING

and are very prominent in flight

DARK-CAPPED BULBUL

This Bulbul has a dark crested head and is black around its eye,
a yellow vent, not clear on this image. They can be found in gardens
and become very tame

HADEDA IBIS

This bird has a long beak that it uses to probe for insects and worms

When in flight makes a raucous calling out, ha, ha, haa de daa,
hence its name Hadeda
