AFRICAN SPOONBILL

Images of the African Spoonbill

This bird's bill is shaped in the form of a spoon, hence its name.

When feeding it moves its head sideways to and fro
through shallow water trapping any aquatic life

This is my pic of the Spoonbill
If you look at the reflection in the water of the middle bird
you can clearly see the shape of the bill

BLACKSMITH LAPWING

Here are images from the webcam of the Blacksmith Lapwing

This is a black and white bird normally found in pairs frequenting
inland waters and marshy ground

CAPE WAGTAIL

Webcam images of the Cape Wagtail.

This bird can often be found near water feeding on the ground
and catching small flying insects

DARK-CAPPED BULBUL

Webcam images of the Dark-Capped Bulbul

This Bulbul has a dark crested head and is black around its eye,
a yellow vent, not clear on this image. They can be found in gardens
and become very tame

HADEDA IBIS

Here are images from the webcam of the Hadeda Ibis

This bird has a long beak that it uses to probe for insects and worms

When in flight makes a raucous calling out, ha, ha, haa de daa,
hence its name Hadeda

After a prolonged period of drought some welcomed relief came at the end of April 2010
It started raining early hours of the morning of 29 April
