The Venda trip didn't produce any lifers despite high expectations... However, a quick visit to the Western Cape produced three: Ludwig's bustard, Grey tit and Damara canary takes me to 640

Welcome back Johan. I am glad about the 3lifers in the Western Cape, not even a ring lifer in Venda?

How's this for ambition. I am on 490 and am aiming for 600 before year end, after a 17 day trip to Pel's country.

I'm currently on 173 birds. Target 200.
I managed to add these in and around Potchefstroom:
Yellow canary
Common waxbill
Familiar chat

During a lovely break at a Thabazimbi game farm I added:
Acacia pied barbet
Arrow-marked babbler ( )
Chinspot batis
Crested francolin
Grey-backed camaroptera
Long-billed crombec
Violet-eared waxbill
Black-faced waxbill
Crimson-breasted shrike
Fairy flycatcher
Golden-breasted bunting
Green-winged pytilla
Magpie shrike
Marico flycatcher
Neddicky
Southern white-crowned shrike
Yellow-fronted canary.

As you can see it was like being let loose in a candy store!
