The restaurant has the normal food. KNP is the only national park where breakfast is included in the rate.

The shop stocks all you will need, but i would rather do all my shopping at a supermarket before you go into the park, as the selection at the park shop is limited and is slightly more expensive.

Hi Sandybabe

In connection with the menu of the restaurant at Karoo NP, the following: It is an a la carte menu from 18:00 (or 19:00) with a wide choice of dishes, including gemsbok steak, springbok potjie, chicken and many more, served with chips / baked potato and veggies. The food is really good and one can sit outside on a quiet evening, watching the famous stars of the Karoo, listening to the night sounds of the Park.

Breakfast is included in the accommodation rate and also quite good.

Enjoy

Sandybabe, we really enjoyed our breakfast at the restaurant there.
I would just like to add that, should you decide to self cater for other meals, we found the kitchen in our cottage, very well equipped for doing so. :D

The restaurant in this park has been great on the occasions we have used it!!
Had an incredible dinner there some years back that I wont forget with excellent meat and veggies and then breakfast last year was also very nice. We stayed over in the Karoo NP before the SA vs France match up in Bloem and the breakfast was a great start to big day! I highly Recommend it but dont expect the best coffee.

Shop is good for the basics but as the gate closes at 10pm you can even buy stuff or eat out in Beaufort West for variety if you are in the park for a few nights and then this nice town which has a lot more than just the main road with its trucks

The breakfast at the restaurant is quite good. The shop is well stocked and what they don't have you will found in Beaufort West just outside the park.

When you want to have supper at the restaurant you have to book it at the salt and pepper shop that is right next to the reception. You can also call to make a booking. Just call reception at 023-415-2828 and ask to speak to the shop. You can also send a e-mail to Jan Viljoen at janv@vodamail.co.za he is the manager of the restaurant
