Bobbi, that is a beautiful moment that you have captured with your camera.  I have seen baby rhinos before but not as small as that one. It cannot be older than a couple of days. Thanks for sharing.

In my opinion the sighting boards need to have rhino sightings removed as they are more dangerous to these wonderful animals, then by forum members mentioning it's location several weeks later. In our recent trip all sighting boards still had pins for rhino sightings which are current and would make it easy for poachers.

I don't know if is the best and the good place  ... BUT

please "try" to don't put the place of the Rhinos, White or Black, you saw in the park... it's for their life

too many people continue to give too much information

Saw around 60 White Rhino's this weekend in two days, all in good health. A real treat!!

While I am about it there were 4 "men" that were spooked close to Krugers border last week, the "men" got away, but a large calibre rifle was found and confisacted, and 4 or 5 ruck sacks with large knives were also found. Unfortunately the men got away.

The problem as I see it is that al lot of these "men" are being harboured in these communities, could this be done through fear?

Sanparks partner in KwaZulu Natal have dedicated their Summer magazine, Wildside, to RHINOS.
It makes interesting reading and has great hard-hitting adverts created free by top ad agencies (Ogilvy, Hardy Boys and Paton Tupper ) to raise awareness of the plight of the rhino.
It would be great if Sanparks could get permission to use these ads!

The following report appeared on Facebook:
``This morning a lady phoned into our talk station, 702 to say they have just witnessed a Rhino near Crocodile Bridge die and had appeared to have been shot. They phoned the camp to be told there was NO one there to come out due to a strike. Next thing a man appeared from the bush with a rifle and indicated that he was waiting for the poachers. Last week I told you how the army was driving bat out of hell along Skukuza and Lower Crocodile, surely they could have called the army in...makes me think of who else is in the pay packets of these thugs/poachers? I am feeling sick in my stomach as we are sure we saw this Rhino as he had a wonderful horn and is often seen in this area.''

Decades ago when elephant poaching for ivory reached epidemic proportions in places like Tsavo, East Africa, it was found that government officials were heavily involved, mostly parks officials and politicians....

After the arrest of 4 parks officials recently in Kruger, and the arrest of a Chinese who had millions of Rands worth of rhino horn in Cape Town last week, I am starting to wonder if the same problem is not facing us too...
(NB NO offence to 99% courageous, faithful officials, but concerned about the minority who could be corrupt!)

On my last trip to Kruger in December, this rare moment gave us hope

Image

now I wonder how long it will last!

God bless,

Friedrich von Hörsten

It is such a pitty that groups of rhinos are not a regular sighting any more. A special sighting indeed and thanks for sharing it with us   :cam:

I don't mind what the sexes were (although I could identify at least two males positively) - but what a nice video to make you long for the bush.

Wow, one of those rhinos has an incredibly beautiful horn!

Its sad how some people don't see that beauty, but rather dollar signs.

Lovely video, ice

Did You Know? :hmz:
The calf of a White Rhino always walks in-front off his mother. When he is still young, the mother of the calf will steer him softly with her horn.
