Hi wilddog

We have been in Kruger 3 out of the last four Novembers. All camping.

One year, a week camping in a small tent, and the weather was lovely, it only rained during the night once. Middle of Nov. The park was very green, as it had had rain earlier in Nov already.

Next year, the rains were late ... the park was still dry. Then we had a really odd weather pattern, a once in many years type of thing and rain non stop for four days.

Last year, we spent the entire month of Nov in the park. It can get very hot as Radman said. The rains came later in the month, so it was still 'dry' when we got there early in the month.

My point: it is difficult to predict the weather/rain for that time of the year.

I would go - it will be a bit hot, especially coming from Europe. But it is a WONDERFUL time to visit the park. The park comes alive after the winter, the impala drop their lambs from about mid Nov on, and the birds return.

well, thank you very much for info and your ideas. It seems there is some chance not to have too much rain in November, isnt it? Are there usually just some quick showers and isolated storms from time to time or heavy looong rains on the begining of wet season? I have never been to Africa in wet season.
Kruger is far from here, and maybe it will be our last visit for years and it would be unhappy to stay there in rains. I just must make decision whether it will worth going in November or completely cancel the trip in this year and postpone the travel maybe to next year if we cant go in this October..

Wilddog, I would hate you to have a bad trip, with loads of wet weather. prediction for Nov 2012 No idea if that website is worth much, or if anyone can predict weather that far in advance.

Wilddog,

Generally the November rains in South Africa are late afternoon thundershowers. Might last for about 1 hour. I wouldn't cancel my trip, as October and November are very similar, regarding rainfall patterns...

I like to use www.yr.no. It's an international website, but find it to be very accurate.

You can search even the smallest town and camp and it will give you the prediction, and long term forecasts.

Very  that you're going to the park this weekend1 Enjoy it immensely!

We are coming up tomorrow with 2 young kids and I want to make sure I pack correctly. Weather sites say it will be raining for most of this week but you never know so I was just wondering if anyone is in the South at the moment who can tell what is happening today.

Please.....:)

Also are the roads all open again after all the rains a few weeks back? Thank you.

We are in White River and it is very overcast and very cool. It is currently 20 degrees on our patio and the KP is usually about 6 - 8 degrees warmer than us. Maybe EcoJunkie might be able to give you a better idea. Which camp/s in the south are you staying at?

Was hot this morning, now cooler and overcast and a few rain drops are just beginning to fall - anything could happen!

Hi Forumates!!!

I would just like to know if it has rained in Kruger yet? my parents were up in October and were told that the rains had nt come yet.

As well is the Southern Park of Kruger expecting rain from 15th till 23rd December 2012? I will be camping and would just like to know, to pack the essentials.

The area around Shingwedzi was still very dry when we were there this past weekend.

It has been pouring in White River for the past 24 hours so sure KNP will also have benefited from the rain
