:hmz: Nossob lion bush telegraph must have gone something like this last night.

"Ok, coast is clear, that big tough animal with the lights has gone, we can come out for the night."

Later

"Oh dear, it is here again. Caught in the act!"

No drives going out this evening. But I hear there were lions sitting just inside the gate at Twee Rivieren all day. Not sure whether to be sad that I'm not driving or thankful that I won't have to open the gates...

Sunset drive last night:

Was cut a bit short! Our guests were a little put off by the weather, and we returned early, but not before a wonderful sighting of AWC and BBJ- both in daylight.

Last night's night drive:

After dropping off the sunset drive, we were right back out again on a night drive. By then TR was having a serious electrical storm, but my brave guests wanted to take it on! We got very, very rained on, but had brilliant sightings of AWC, Cape Fox, bat eared fox and a barn owl that hovered eerily around the vehicle. Highlight was the hour or so spent at Samevloeing listening to frogs while guests photographed the lightning over the 'lake' that had formed. I honestly believe the photos taken last night were some of the best ever taken in KTP. An unforgetable night with a very scary atmosphere at times. Just wonderful :)

Today's morning drive:

Up again early today and started with a great bat-eared fox sighting. All the usual antelopes in the Auob as well as steenbok. Also had a young PCG eating a small tortoise. About 1km before the TR gate, we had a cheetah mother and her three VERY well-fed cubbies with their soccer ball tummies.

:)

Thanks for the update Moose.
:hmz: What puzzles me is why there are always cats near the gate when I'm not there. :slap:

Htid: I've got the guests contact details and hoping for some photos in time when they get home from their travels.

Tonight's sunset drive:

Amazing! Cheetahs still where we left them in the morning. Good sightings of Cape Fox, bat eared fox and jackal all at the same time!! African wild cat, springhares, scrubhares, barn owl, spotted eagle owls, 1 springbok, 3 gemsbok and a polecat :)

My awesome guests also saw a mystery animal that disappeared while I was reversing. When I asked them to describe it, they described the perfect honey badger...

But the best sighting of the evening was definitely a DREAMER :)

Yesterday morning: Report from a forumite about a spotted hyena close to TR gate.

Sunset drive last night:
-A group of lions where the TR dune road meets the Auob

-at Houmoed- cheetah mother (Lisette) with three 13 month old cubs with a springbok by the road

(After we left, Gus Mills reported a spotted hyena came in to take the rest of the kill- once cheetahs had left. He also saw brown hyena on the way back to camp)

We missed the hyenas but had good genet sighting, jackals, BEF, spring hare, scrub hare, gemsbok, steenbok, springbok, wildebeest, ostrich, spotted eagle owl.

Morning drive: I hear it was a little quiet- jackal, gemsbok and wildebeest.
