Just checking Pedro, there are some visitors who are not quite in tune with it!

Good luck. I have always found the area around Croc Bridge to provide before long.

Get out as the gate opens- it is always been the best time of day for me. Late afternoons are also good.
Do not be anxious , if you take your time and take life SLOWLY while KRUGERPARKING you should be rewarded.
As others have said" the right place at the right time'
That is is the adventure of Krugerparking
I hope your enjoy our wonderful park and wish you the best of sightings on your trip.
Have seen big 5 in 20 minutes, but also spent 3 days and seen none of the 5 but the other sightings are amazing.

Our last trip was seven days with only 1 lion sighting (actually a lioness and 3 cubs in a dry riverbed) but who cares, the Kruger is such a wonderful place to be in so if we don't see the Big 5 it is not a disaster! What about all the birds we managed to spot while being the only car at a dam first thing in the morning! What about the sunsets we captured on film? What about all the smells and sounds we were able to experience first thing in the morning and last thing at night? Our Kruger trips are not about chasing predators or the big 5, they are about
spending quality time with each other and also quality time in the park which many people caanot afford these days

Pedro, the chances are high that you will see predators. I understand that it is pretty important to you, coming from such a distance.

I would suggest that you will increase your chances on a night or sudowner drive. The guides are often clued up about what is where and share information with each other. If you have a blackberry i-phone, I suggest you join the group. It keeps you up to date at all times.

I also suggest that you perhaps have a look at Ossendrywer's sightings thread. He keeps a very good check on what is around and where. Maybe pm him for more information.

Luck of the draw Pedro...

Was in Kruger in December, got big 5 three times in a row from Phabeni gate to Crocodile bridge and a fourth leopard on the s28, within 7 houers of entering the park. The next day big 5 again with cheetah and wild dog, and a forum member! (Sparrow) :yaya: But then the next day almost nothing, you would have thought all the animals left the park over night, and then the next day 4 of the big 5 again with cheetah again. Thats the magic of Kruger, you just never know when you're going to see what..... It's about wait and see....

That´s how I see it and the big 5 aren´t that important to me, there are many animals I would rather see than a buffalo, for instance.

I only wanted to find out how often thing don´t happen how one expects, not to seem desperate to chase predators  .

Although I´m not a big fan of guided drives I will probably go on at least one sunset drive, if possible on one of the smaller vehicules.

And no, I don´t have a blackberry, but I´m following the forum on a daily basis, it´s a big help to pass the time I still have left and it will help me a lot on my trip.

If it is your first trip Pedro,

don't worry about what those of us who have been a number of time say about looking for the rarer things, just go for what you think is important to you.

Yup!! Let me kid you not ... I love all the animals in the Park. And birdwatching grows on me with every trip. But the early morning and late afternoon is cat time!

On one 5 night to Kruger, we only saw lions on our last afternoon drive.
I am not a lion chaser, so it didn't bother me.
But there was the possibility that we didn't see any.

A couple years ago , somebody ( I think it was Dinkybird :hmz: ) , mentioned that they had not seen any of the big cats in KNP covering visits of more than 15 days :(
