Last year November we have visited Kruger 19 times. This year in May it will be our 20th visit for seven days :D. Our longest visit to Kruger was in the 1990’s when we visited for 15 days  . We have spent 5 days in Punda Maria, 5 days in Shingwedzi, 4 days in Talamati and one day in Skukuza during that, to us, very long visit. Our shortest visit was last year for three days which we have spent in Skukuza. I have kept all our reservations in a file and I still like those big green striped print-outs which indicated the accommodation that a person has booked. May all of us still have many happy Kruger visits  and many :lotsocoffee: at our favorite picnic spots and waterholes.

Been to Kruger 3 times. And all 3 were memorable (even if 2 visits were only day visits - we were at Marloth Park for those two). Considering I was in my 30's by the time I made my first visit, that's not so bad since I'm only in my middle 30's now.

First trip (day visit) was about 40 degrees, and we were in my Corsa Lite which had no aircon. Brother was that a hot day!

Second trip (six nights - if memory serves) was for our honeymoon.

Third trip (day visit again) was also hot, but at least we had a car (Toyota Verso) that had aircon. Thing was that it was between Christmas and New Year, and wife had found out on Christmas day she was pregnant with Subunit2! Saw quite a lot considering I couldn't go on any gravel roads as the bumps made her want to throw up!

That won't be all the visits we make. Our return will happen, but it's quite the mission from Cape Town (especially with the 2 kids)!

About 30 visits done over the last 16 years. Longest stay 12 nights. Never stayed less than 5 nights.

Have done all the camps ( except some of the bush camps ) and would dearly love to do some of the walking trails.

Have seen many changes to KNP over the years, some good some............... rather not express myself here.

By far the best place in the world if you are alone with a sighting or just somewhere totally alone. You then realize that at that moment you are the only humans in the world at that spot.

My kids practically grew up in the place. Now if we ask them to choose between holiday in the park or at the coast, they always choose the park.

Will be going for years and years to come, if only it can be bit more affordable for SA citizens. After all it is our park

If I calculate the number of days over a 17 year period I count roughly 116 days that we have spent in Kruger :D. 365 and 224 days are then for me indeed a lot of days that Scipio and Ecojunkie have spent in Kruger  and combined it is almost two years

We've been 3 times - the first being in 2005 and we're booked again for this August. We tend to stay for 3 weeks each trip (well you have to stay for as long as possible when you travel so far!!) So we've had about 65 days in KNP so far! And every single one of the was amazing.

We're booked for a shorter trip this August - only 15 nights - and already getting excited!!

In the last 7300 days we have done 26 trips to Kruger
11 days - as day visitors from surrounding lodges.
88 nights in Kruger.
99 days spent in Kruger (clutching at straws here, I count the last day of our trips as days days spent in Kruger)
Longest stay 8 nights and shortest 1night.

I've got some serious catching up to do here

My first visit was with school in 1982. Then didn't go again until 1994 but have been about 20 times in total including a Christmas in Shingwedzi and a New Years eve in Balule. Also managed to catch the total eclipse at Red Rocks which was amazing, remember driving through the night to get to the park in the very early hours of that morning.

Longest visit was in November 2003 when we camped for 28 days just before moving to the UK, started in Skukuza with the Metsi Metsi trail and then camped at every single camping ground in the park. Was rather warm in a tent though especially up North.

I remember our first trip to Kruger. A Group of us from the CCSA Border Region decided on a trip to Eastern Transvaal as it was then (1986) and our tour leader asked if we should spend a week in Kruger. My SO and a few others decided 3 days was long enough - why would anyone want to spend a week there watching animals? When we arrived and stayed at Lower Ssbie 2 nights and Letaba 1 night he and the others wondered why they didn't agree to a week. Well the Kruger bug bit and hard. We cnnot get there as often as we like - we are now pensioners and the fuel bill is heavy towing a caravan from East London, but every opportunity we can get there we do.
In 1994 was our second visit 9 the first time withut our kids - they had flown the coop. That was 12 nights with friends in 2 other vans. Berg n dal, Satara, Shingwedzi and Letaba. in 2001 we went with caravan again and two other vans of friends. Skukuza, Satara, Shingwedzi and Letaba again for 12 nights, 3 at each camp. Then I saved as much as I could and my SO and I went for 6 weeks (42 nights) That was our best visit because we had only ourselves to worry about with regards to food, sightings etc. As I recall we spent 5 nights at Satara,
5 at Shingwedzi, 5 at Letaba (Our son and family joined us at Shingwedzi and Letaba from Joburg) then back to Satara for 5 nights, Berg n dal for 5 nights, Pretorius Kop 9 nights, Skukuza 5 days amd Crocodile Bridge for 3 nights. That trip was so precious to us - we saw a Zebra being killed at Gudzani East WH by a lioness, a Waterbuck almost taken by a lioness at Nsemani dam. So many lions over the 6 weeks, only 3 Leopars in trees. We met the legendary "Martie" of blog fame on our first day at Satara, and she cooked us a wonderful meal on the open fire at P Kop. Those memories are with me forever.
Last year close friends asked us to travel with them for 22 nights in Kruger. Punda Maria (How I loved that camp)3 nights, Shingwedzi (5) Where we met Billyf , Letaba (6), Skukuza (5) and Croc Bridge (3 nights).
Of all the times I have been to Kruger I preferred August and September as good sighting months. Winter time the park is dry - animals come to the dams and waterholes and you can see far into the bush. Last year we were there in May/June. The bush was green and lush and animals could not be spotted so easily. But I would go there again despite all the potholes and bad roads we had to travel to get there. I am already saving for my next trip! Hope it will be for another 6 weeks on our own again.
