2 minutes with Lightroom and PS 4

Also a quick process..

One important note, with most of the graphics software, PS Lightroom etc, you work and get better results working on an original shot or in Tiff format. Jpg pics have lost a lot of colour depth and are sometimes very difficult to work with.

I just quickly played around with each for a minute or so in Nikon's Capture NX II (Brilliant piece of software...) - Your sensor and / or lens needs some serious cleansing!

Both images aren't really sharp and has a lot of noise, not too much you can do to rectify, I take it these images were cropped quite a bit?

Good morning Yoda,
I used the cloning tool (brush size 27 px - softness 75%) to clean and cut what was not wanted.
Finished that a simple automatic colour correction and job done.
The mistake most people do is use the brush without considering that the softer it is the better the results. At 75-80% you have better results even if at times you have to pass on the same spot a couple of times.
Of course the cloning is done reading the colour range closest and working at magnification between 200 and 600 and changing the size of your brush accordingly. At times you end up using a brush size 2-4 px.

The Marabou just simple cloning PS 4, and then a little sharpening and colour correction with Lightroom.

Rumuruti-I like it very much-that obnoxiuous thorn not so prickly anymore- can you take out the whole thorn?

And like yours too Switchback and Robbie. Seems you have done something with the sharpness Not too much cropping as far as I can remember (grey matter and grey hairs not up to scratch)-both birds were quite close and I use a Sigma 170-500 lens with x2 teleconverter. Will check the original!

Now that I am ready to try some Greek-save up for PS? uhm uhm.

No Photoshop? No matter, you don't really need it. What you do need is Lightoom!
Which is a free download at the moment, just go to labs.adobe.com and download it.
That can take care of the dust (swipe your sensor, saves you a ton of time!) and you can make many adjustments in a flash.

Morning DQ, the copyright thing is automatic when I load pic's with Picasa

Lightroom really is fantastic when it gets to pictures and I love using it.

Give me a weeks work on it and thorn can easily disappear!!

I find Photo Shop indespensable. So I would definately try and get a copy. You could go for Elements which is much cheaper than the full version but has most of the features that you would need to use.
I have used a fraction of the features of the full version.

Rumuruti/DuQues, what does Light Room do that can't be done with PS?

Not an easy one to answer, you are talking about two totally different programs, made for different purposes.

Lightroom is your digital darkroom.
So you 'develop' your photos there. There is a flow to that, called a workflow, you can read up on it here.
That should answer a lot of questions, especially as you see Photoshop enter it later.

But simply said, with Lightroom you adjust horizon, colours, exposure and crop. As well as removing specks of dust of course. You do not change the photo.
With Photoshop you alter the photo. Remove offending branches, add another impala, text ot whatever. Or brighten areas which were too dark, the opposite, and so on.

WTM something i learned i=a while back if you have the white sky in the background try using your flash it will dim any bright lighting during the day

People will call you mad, using flash in bright, bright daylight, but it does work like a charm.
