This is appalling news. I hope everyone presently in Kruger will be OK; that lives and possessions will be safe; that animals will keep well away from the flooding areas; that things will not get worse; that strength will be given to those that rescue. Keep safe everyone.

Hi All!!

According to Kruger to Canyon newspaper: Hoedspruit is declared a disaster zone after the Welverdiend dam wall broke.

There are no road link between Hoedspruit and Lydenburg because bridge washed away!

Just had a press release that Mala Mala reserve is closing with immediate effect for the next 7 days dependent on the prevailing rain. As this is right next to Kruger it shows how dire the situation is. Last time they had to do this was in 2000.
Please Mods if you think this is inappropriate for this forum please remove, but feel it does bear relevance to the problem we are having in the area.
It is still POURING in White River and it is getting extremely worrying for all of us.

Me, and I think everyone else reading this tread right now join you in that prayer! May the Lord above be with all involved, human and animal alike, there in our beloved Kruger, and all its surrounding towns and villages and farms.

Marloth Park:
About an hour ago we received a high alert flood call from Securicon who again received a call from Nkomazi Municipality situated in Malelane: A dam wall in Malelane has a 50% chance of bursting, all along Crocodile River must be warned. Marloth Park among others will be in serious trouble if this should happen.
My heart goes out to those in Hoedspruit and all other areas. Prayer chains have been set in motion all over the country.

The flooding of the generator room at Letaba; was it due to rain alone or has the river flooded there as well?

Deja vu. It will take some doing to beat 2000 but you never know. Wonderful to see how the natural system sometimes operates and puts things into perspective.

Jis I also feel very worried!!!!!!!!

It seems like one can still drive over the high water bridge (H12)?????????? As far as I remember, in 2000 this bridge was also under water and damaged???????? Not that it make things better. :( :( :(

Just hoped that this my be an indication that it's not as bad as 2000... yet. ????????????

I see on the whether forecast that the rain will stop by tomorrow in the Lowveld, don't know about further up?

Is Rodgers on the wrong side of the bridge? Can't see very clearly but seems that he may have been cut off from Tsendze/Mopani??
