Hello all! It is I! The Webmaster.

The moderators have brought it to my attention about you guys making animated gifs. While this is quite a cool idea and (mega ingenious), we have some concerns about it:

1) The page load is going to increase steadily because of the animated GIFs. We may need to set them up in a separate image gallery and then just link to them via a URL.
2) The images taken by webcam are SANParks property so for a user to innocently stitch them together into a little movie and then host it outside SANParks may be a big no-no.

Until I consult my colleagues and Nedret about this, I'm going to temporarily lock this topic.

Hi all

I've had a chat with the people here and we've decided to unlock the topic and allow posting again. You're free to go ahead and make animated GIFs out of the webcam shots. It's also kosher to host these file externally, especially when they get a bit fatty-fat.

The only condition is that you're not allowed to post the image on here in a post, ie. embedded. You must post a URL/link to the external file.

Please speak to the moderators or myself if you have any questions.

My second attempt with lions

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I obviously had way too much time on my hands at work
I saved (almost) every 30-sec pic of the 20 minutes that the baboons were playing at Satara. So many pics I had to split them into two gifs. I hope you enjoy!

That is great, even though it takes a long time to download - but once it is done it is really great.

Also it means that each time the thread is opened we do not have to download all the animations and waste our internet allocation!! Can't think of correct term right now !! (having a senior moment).

I have a suggestion - could the 1st picture in the sequence be posted here and then the link underneath. It would make the thread more appealing (especially for first timers). once it is opened?

Afternoon lion at Nossob.

I was alway stunned by the gorgeous change of lighting, especially in KTP. I never bothered to post a series of pics on the daily thread, because it seemed to me, it wouldn't have the same effect.

Today Nossob gave me a chance to save some pics and create Link broken.. There are also some skin jumping critters (Jungle Junkie ) in there.

By the way, I just found this website (hihn.org) and it claimes you can upload up to 300 pics.
