Under Travel Tales

On 5 May we had this sighting a few hundred meters from Batulama waterhole. She ( Miera ) was resting in the shade at 2:45 pm and I did not expect her to get up. We were told of Cheetahs further on and we drove on.

The next few days we were in Nossob. From 12 May we were in Cabin number 1 at Urikaruus. On our first night at 7:05 I was standing at the fire and saw something was drinking water at the water hole. I could not belief my eyes, it was a Leopard. I did not expect it so early, but got this photo as proof.

The Leopard only took one or two sips of water and walked off to the dunes on the other side of the river. Well she at least had the adrenaline flowing and the meat and wine tasted so much better.

The next morning I went on a drive on my own. I decided to go towards Rooibrak, hoping for the Leopard we saw a week ago at Batulama. Our next door neighbour in number 2 left earlier and he also went south. I was watching his tracks in the road and just were he reversed a car came from the opposite direction and told me my neighbour told him he saw a Leopard.

I soon spotted her on the other side of the river. It was Tsamma.

She walked from tree to tree and climbed in almost every big one.

Then she moved to our side but gave as a hard time to get a clear picture.

The cars got more and it became difficult to get close to her. Then she crossed the road and
disappeared over the dune.

I stayed with her from 8:10 till 10:15.

To be continued.

@WillieV - a new page may take a while! :wall: :hmz: An alternative is to select your best 2 or 3 pix and post, then supply a link to the rest of your TR 'Barolong' post.
