My alias is very simple. We have a wonderful one room 70 year old log cabin, no electricity, no water, which we go to on the weekends for skiing or just relaxing depending on the season. Right now we are between seasons so going there isn't as much fun as there is too much snow for hiking and not enough for skiing. Anyways my garden is calling me to pull out the weeds!

Vaatjie meaning little barrel, this is a simple one only being five foot six (1.68m?) and weighing in at a little more than the recommended 75Kg.

 Very, VERY long story.

I'm involved in a certain role playing game featuring were-wolves. One of my fellow players calls me "Wolfling". Actually, she calls me "whelp" (don't ask, it'd take FAR too long to explain) but I went with "wolfling" because my "father" in the game is a werewolf wizard. As his "son" I'm a "wolfling". Besides, I like the name. For some reason, I found Wolfling sort of apt.

The @ 12 bit will be even weirder to explain. In the game, I play a werewolf. Since werewolves emerge at night, I'm only a wolfling past midnight. Hence Wolfling @ 12. :p

As the nickname for my first name "Anja" is already used,
as well as "ansie" which is the nickname I used for the Africam Boma, I decided to take an animal name.
The next I thought of was "leopard" which was the first animal I saw during my first stay in SA when I was at Pkop in KNP. But leopard is already taken too. Sable was currently free :)
I still haven't seen my first real live sable. But nevertheless I hope to have the chance to see a sable during my next stay in KNP.
... then you will see my avatar change to that wonderful animal's picture.Until then enjoy my fellow from the Hluhluwe safari

I use my nickname because it's my usual forum alias and normally no one in Germany do know something about cricket.

I love the sport and i like pop in a game at Kingsmead.

Here too, my mom said "Christel" my father wanted "Sabine", so it's just both of them. Life's complicated enough, why should I break my little head creating a new alias. :D

Got my nickname from Res when I was at RAU, now University of JHB. I played the role of the baboon Rafiki in our 1st years concert and the name sort of just stuck from there. My friends just shortened it from Rafiki and hence I am Ravvie.

PS: I was so convincing as a baboon that I actually won the best actor award. Don't know if I should take that as a compliment

Many might think that I semi-copied Wildtuinman! I didn't - when I registered. I was completely unaware of some of the similar names out there. Wildman, why? I love the wild, wildlife and being a bit wild. Thought it was a nice pun, where nobody would really know the real meaning...I like it and I think it works well. Saw a new member that joined this week - Wildwoman: we are not related; at least I hope not...
Some of the wild ones out there:
Wildtuiman (Afrikaans, I know)
Wild@heart
Wildwoman
Wildchild
Wildsteve
Wild4zn
Wildman!

Restio... because this is a key plant genus in fynbos. I'm from Cape Town, am interested in botany, and love the elegance of the Restionaceae family. Currently, my avatar is a restiod, Thamnochortus insignis to be precise.

Tracker is the nickname I was given while on a truck safari in East Africa. Being the only South African on the truck, I got the nickname because I could ID all of the animals we sighted and some of their footprints too (most notable a set of lion tracks along the pathway to the long drop at an unfenced camp site in the Serengeti).

Amanzi is the Zulu word for water. Water brings life, life means more friends, more friends, means: HAPPY PEOPLE! :D

BUT, water can take life away as well, thus playing an all important role in everyone's existence

Well Mine is an interesting story...

I have worked online most of my life. I have more of an online life than I have a real life...

I worked for an international policing team (Similar to Interpol) that traced, infiltrated and finaly aprehended suspects in child pornography rings / syndicates.

Anyway since we are / were all a bunch of uber gheeks and we live via aliases my workmates for some reason started calling me "The Virtual Fart" or a Baf for short... (To Baf is to Fart in england I think.)

Anyway from there it developed to Baffers (farter)

NO IT IS NOT WHAT I DO IN REAL LIFE!!!

I once heard they said its because of respect since they guys I tracked only realised I was there when it was to late and the smell hit them ( Like a Real Life Fart) but somehow I dont think that was really it...
