Just read your thread on beanbags! I had the same problem en read a lot about window mounts and beanbags, I came across a thing called Win-bag Pro. http://www.verygoods.co.za/windbag_pro.html.It worked very well and the best part is that you can leave it on the window when driving

I had a cushion that had tiny polystyrene balls in it it was ready for the bin as the outer case had developed holes as I was about to toss it I realised it would make the perfect bean bag with a new cover put over the old one it is perfect.

I've also made my own custom window mounts in the past, which mainly took a tripod head. My biggest problem with window mounts is often you can't close the window quickly, or at all. Can become a problem when there are vervets and baboons around...

I use different bean bags
Bought one from
Double beanbag
And made my own from a pillow casing
Always fill them with sunflower seeds (bird seeds for parrots for eg)
They are light and big

The height!

I have tried using a real windowmount, with ballhead. That really wasn't too pleasant as I lacked a hardhat and kept bumping my head against the handrest above the window. :|

So till I have a Wimberly I'll be using beanbags.

Hi there

I am just an amateur but use the following - bought a poolnoodle and cut it in two. Made a slit along one side to fit over the window - only problem is that you have to remove it if you want to close the window completely - but its good enough for us. :)

right, here are the photos of my bean bag (first time I'm posting any of these details on the 'net in 2 years, so consider yourselves lucky :P )

Its designed to be used on car windows, car window sills, on ledges in bird hides etc etc. The velcro strap can be tightened or loosened for greater height etc.

I'm embarrassed to say I left it at home (along with my tripod) on my trip to Kruger last week  .

I would like to sew one like this, could I get the sizes of the separated pieces please

Will try measure them, but they weren't measured when they were made. Just make whatever sizes work for you :)

Thanks. I still need to post some 'action shots' of it in use. The size of the beanbag should be determined by the size of your kit and how you're going to use it I guess. For example mine is too heavy to use while walking around, and useful only in the car or at a hide.

That is exactly what I want to use it for. My SO bought a new lenses for me 150-500 Sigma, so I definitely need a beanbag. Would be great to see yours in use.
