So with the sun setting it was time to visit Sunset Dam!!

Unfortunately it had been a rather cloudy day so none of the spectacular sunset shots today.
Still we saw some awesome sights. The dam was teeming with life

A yellow-billed stork looked pretty in pink :D
Image

And my first picture of pied kingfishers :cam:
Image

The close proximity of the crocs and hippos never ceased to amaze me
Image

Some kind of truce must exist between these species? :hmz:

We returned to camp at 5.45 to get to the shop before the 6.05pm crush began. Found some mince, eggs and a tin of mixed vegies. Dad was going to cook up some rissoles. We had no wood left for the braai so we decided to cook on the stove top. Doh!! When we turned on the large hotplate we shorted out the entire tent. Found the fuse box, and turned everything back on. So then it was a VERY slow process to cook the rissoles on the small hotplate….nonetheless, they were delicious

We sat and ate and listened to the sounds of our last night at Lower Sabie :(

I was VERY excited about the next day though.
We were driving to Berg-en-Dal to meet up with Magic Guarri and family!!!!

I prayed for some sleep so I could be bright and full of energy to meet the Bavarians

Goodnight gecko…..

Hi Melph

Fantastic, 3 kingfishers, multiple hippos and crocs, then a rhino joins in

Love the hippos and crocs laying together, when crocs come out of the water here in Oz you will not see another animal for the dust

just love the bee-eaters...........and a leopard tortoise definitly counts, weve only seen 2 in Kruger on our trips compared to upto 20 leopards....a much rarer sighting...

Hi Mel! :yaya:

YAY!!! Another instalment!!!

I love your first pic of the two lady kudus - they look so elegant and dignified standing there, with their big ears.
And those bee eaters are magnificent... what colours!

Your pic with the crocs and hippos is also awesome - I hope someone can answer your question about the truce that exists - you'd think they'd be an easy meal for the crocs, just lying there - pink bellies and all.

Another wonderful day in Kruger - can't wait to hear about this "Big 5 Day" you talk about!

Hi Mel, wow you did have a nice day, didn't you.

Love the "Bum Shot" and the kudu pics, love kudu, they are my best buck. Your European bee eaters dust bathing are lovely, what a nice sight to see them on the road.

Laughed at the old man baboon contemplating his toenails :D :D

And you were so lucky to see the three pied kingfishers together.

You two must have had such fun together, not so often a dad and daughter do an overseas trip together when daughter is adult.
